November 2nd, 2009

28″ x 17.25″, acrylic on hardboard. Pained on location Hangman creek at the Hays bridge. 11/1/09.

Bidding starts at 1 cent on ebay, Have fun!

Funny story on this painting. I was setting up at the bridge to paint this mid afternoon yesterday, and somehow managed to accidentally kick my pochade (paint) box into the creek! So its bobbing around in the middle and I thought, “oh great, I get to swim today”. I was able to clamber down over the rocks and got down somewhat close to the water and fortunately the current pushed the box right to me. It reminded me of Moses in the basket, I was hunched down in the reedy bushes and this box bobbing around. Oh the fun of location painting, of such moments are pleasant memories forever made!

I worked on this as long as I could on location and then finished it in the studio this morning (working loosely from a snapshot I took of the scene yesterday). I hope you like it!
